My thoughts, observations, musings and tirades related to the Mets, Jets, Knicks and Hokies (and whatever other sports-related nerves are hit).

So Seattle’s Idzik is the new Jets GM. First, NOT a football guy (take that back, he is more than his predecessor, but he is not a personnel guy - he’s a money guy). Then, the fact that he came in knowing that he would have no authority over who is the head coach for at least another year frightens me. I don’t feel like this guy’s “talents” (AKA not being a really really good football personnel guy) outweigh the downsides in this situation (no HC moves, lack of players on the team, the QB situation). He may end up being a great GM, but I don’t know if this is the situation for it.
Marty Mornhinweg was made Offensive Coordinator of the Jets. W.T.F.?! This guy was with Philly, and that performance the last few years wasn’t that great. Additionally, Andy Reid was the final guy calling offense - this is another situation where there has potential to be a lack of creativity or snap judgment on teh offense. AGAIN. The fact that we are down to this guy - and Norv Turner, Wisenhunt, the dude from Stanford didn’t even give the Jets a thought - is scary, depressing and ridiculous.
NO ONE wants to come here… because of the fact they would have to wait a year, at least, to become fully autonomous and to be a real GM with real GM authority, then there’s Woody, Rex, Sanchex, the cap, etc etc etc.
I want to be optimistic, but I don’t have much hope. So, I will wait and see what other moves (if any) are made before next summer before I return to doom and gloom… so, for now I will just be indifferent. What else can we do?
